Terms of Service

Last updated: August 2026

These terms cover your use of Finance Farmhand. By creating an account you're agreeing to them. We've written them to be readable — but the sections on warranties and liability matter, so please read those.

Who you're agreeing with

These terms are between you and Jacob Miller, doing business as Finance Farmhand ("we", "us"). "You" means the person or farm business using the service.

What Finance Farmhand is — and isn't

Finance Farmhand helps you record farm income and expenses against IRS Schedule F categories, build a per-acre crop budget, and see your breakeven and net return.

It is a record-keeping and planning tool. It is not:

  • Tax advice. We are not accountants, CPAs, or tax preparers. The Schedule F Report summarises what you entered — it is not a filed tax form and doesn't handle depreciation schedules, inventory adjustments, or accrual treatment. Have a qualified preparer review your numbers before you file.
  • Financial, investment, or marketing advice. Breakeven and net return figures are arithmetic on the numbers you supply. They are not a recommendation to plant, sell, hedge, borrow, or buy anything.
  • A guarantee of any outcome. Farming carries risk we don't control — weather, markets, yields, input prices.

The numbers are only as good as what you enter. We don't verify your inputs, and we can't tell whether you've categorised something correctly.

Your account

You're responsible for keeping your password secure and for everything done under your account. Give us an email address you actually control — password resets and important notices go there. Tell us promptly if you think someone else has access.

You need to confirm your email address. If you don't confirm within the grace period shown in the app, planning features are paused until you do; your books stay available.

Plans, billing, and cancellation

Free plan. The Schedule F books are free, with no card and no time limit. We may change what the free plan includes, but we won't start charging you for something without telling you first.

Paid plan. Crop planning is $10 per month or $100 per year. New accounts get a 7-day trial of the paid features.

Renewal. Paid plans renew automatically at the then-current price until you cancel. Payments are handled by Stripe.

Cancelling. Cancel any time from your Account page. You keep paid features through the period you've already paid for, and then your account returns to the free plan. Cancelling never deletes your data — your books keep working.

Refunds. We don't offer automatic refunds for partial periods, but if something has gone wrong, contact us and we'll sort it out sensibly.

Price changes. If we change prices, we'll give existing subscribers notice before it applies to them.

Your data is yours

You own the farm records you enter. We claim no ownership of them.

You grant us only the permission needed to run the service — to store your data, display it back to you, and back it up. We don't sell it and we don't share it with advertisers or input suppliers. See the Privacy Policy for detail.

You can export your books to CSV at any time from the Schedule F Report.

Acceptable use

Don't use Finance Farmhand to break the law, to store someone else's data without their permission, to attack or overload the service, to try to reach accounts or data that aren't yours, or to resell access to it.

Availability

We aim to keep the service running, but we don't promise uninterrupted availability. We may need to take it down for maintenance, and we may change or remove features. If we ever discontinue the service entirely, we'll give you reasonable notice and time to export your data.

Disclaimer of warranties

The service is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including any implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, or non-infringement.

We do not warrant that the service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that any calculation, report, or figure it produces is accurate, complete, or suitable for your purposes — including for tax filing.

Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for lost profits, lost revenue, lost yields, lost data, crop losses, marketing losses, tax penalties, or business interruption — whether or not we were told such damages were possible.

Our total liability for any claim relating to the service is limited to the greater of (a) the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim arose, or (b) fifty US dollars.

You accept that this limit is a reasonable allocation of risk, and that the price of the service reflects it. Some jurisdictions don't allow certain exclusions, so parts of this section may not apply to you.

Indemnification

You agree to cover us against claims, losses, and costs arising from your use of the service, your data, or your breach of these terms.

Ending your account

You can stop using Finance Farmhand at any time. We may suspend or close an account that breaches these terms, doesn't pay, or is being used to harm the service or other users. If we close your account, we'll give you a reasonable chance to export your data unless the circumstances make that impossible.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms. If a change is material, we'll notify you in the app or by email before it takes effect. Continuing to use the service after that means you accept the new terms.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Ohio, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules. Any dispute will be brought in the state or federal courts located in Ohio.
